Greetings, Local Business Owners!

The Les Cheneaux Watershed Council and the “FrogFest” Event Committee would like to advise you about our upcoming event, which is scheduled for Saturday, July 14 at the same location – the front lawn of Autore Oil Co. on Hwy. M-134 in Cedarville, next to the “Welcome Center.”

Planned, is a big kick-off with our first “Marsh Hopper” 5-K Fun Run/Walk, and will start at 9:00 am at the tented location on M-134. Exhibitors, displays, kid’s activities and contests include live reptiles and lessons on trout fly tying; they will all be on hand from 11 am until 3 pm, with field trips in the earlier morning. There will also be a special evening kayak paddle into Duck Bay with reservations made at FrogFest.

Some good news this year: the Les Cheneaux Watershed Council is hoping to step-it-up by implementing a very ambitious marketing plan that will promote the event within a 4-county area, including the greater Eastern UP, Petoskey, and the Tip of the Mitt. We feel this unique “learning” festival has the potential to become a flagship event for the celebration of our natural assets in Michigan’s EUP and throughout Northern Michigan.

Your participation would be very important to help make this happen. You can help by purchasing a small border ad when Dave, from the St. Ignace News, calls on you so that we can have our complete program schedule published in the newspaper; the more ads, the larger the space for our program and the more impact for the event and our community.

Also, the Community Art Project is back – Please consider participating by purchasing a wooden frog cut-out (at the Welcome Center) and artistically decorating it for display outside your business prior to the event. You may also display one from a prior year, but please register it at the Welcome Center. Prizes are: $75 for BEST NEW decorated frog, and $25 for BEST OLDIE-BUT-GOODY.
